If you WANT to improve your body and happiness then get strong and sexy!

To achieve this goal you only have to do two things:

  • Learn how to eat the food that you love.
  • Learn how to do weight training.

The basics alone will make significant improvements in your life.
I find it vaguely disturbing that the basics outlined in this series are not taught as a fundamental part of our core education. Your body is not out to get you. All the creators of magic pills, fad diets and weird exercises in the world are. It would be easy to blame genetics or laziness but why would someone choose to be less than happy if they knew how to change?

Learn how to eat the food that you love

Whether you are "dieting" or not. You are still eating a diet every single day of your life.
Your diet should include things that you love especially if you are trying to reduce body fat.
The simplest way to start is to just record everything that you eat.

Record Everything

See resources for a free smart phone application.
But it doesn't have to be high tech, a small note book or diary will provide the same results.

Dinner

  • 1 cup of rice.
  • 1 rump steak.
  • 1 cup of mixed vegetables.
  • 1 serve ice-cream.

Just start with this simple habit of recording the food that you eat every day.
This will make you aware of what you are eating and how much.
You will get to enjoy the foods that you eat without the guilt, just write them down. With this first step you have now started your fat loss journey. This will also give you a base line to look at later. Don't worry too much about Calories and Macro's at this point, you will learn more about them as you progress through the series, and certainly don't worry about "good" and "bad" foods any more. There is no such thing and the term clean eating does not even begin to describe what you need to do to be happy.

Learn how to do weight training.

Resistance exercise is key to being strong and sexy for life.
If you are only doing cardio then see Why Only Doing Cardio For Fat Loss Fails.

Even if you have never performed any resistance training or can't get to a gym.
You can still get started with BODY WEIGHT exercises.

Example beginner routine:

  • Monday: 8 x 3 push-ups.
  • Tuesday: 8 x 3 squats.
  • Thursday: 8 x 3 push-ups.
  • Friday: 8 x 3 squats.

All other days are rest, yes you can do nothing on the weekend 🙂
Push-ups can be done on the knees but you will progress to full push-ups in time.
Squats can be done as low as is comfortable but you will progress to full Olympic depth.
The 8 x 3 means 8 repetitions (reps) by 3 sets.
Rest up to 2 min between sets.
If you can't do all reps or sets then just do what you can every time and you will progress.
If you can only do 1 then you will feel GREAT when you can do 2!

Now Get Started!

Learning how to eat and how to do weight training REALLY is all that you need to achieve your goals.
You don't have to learn much to get started, just start!

After a few weeks these very simple actions will show improvements, you will be happier.
Ready to learn more and progress this journey. Start with the first steps and learn as you go.
Come back in a week or two and read Part 2.
Please don't go and read the whole Get Strong And Sexy Series from front to back and then do absolutely nothing.

Now go and get started.
